The IB question bank
built for every subject
Thousands of syllabus-mapped IB-style questions across Math AA, Math AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics — every answer marked by an AI Examiner trained against real IB mark schemes, and personalised to you after every attempt.
Pick your subject.
Start in 30 seconds.
Six IB Diploma subjects live today, each with a dedicated IB question bank — Math AA, Math AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics at both SL and HL. Every question is mapped to a syllabus topic and marked against real IB mark schemes.
Six reasons it beats
a textbook every time.
A question bank is only useful if the questions are good, the marking is honest, and the next question is the right one. FourtyFive earns its place on all three.
Three steps from
"I'm stuck" to "got it."
Tell us how you feel about every topic in your subject — from "haven't covered it" to "got it." Takes about 6 minutes per subject and builds your starting Study Profile.
Pick a topic, a paper, a difficulty — or let the algorithm pick. Hand-write or type. The IB question bank serves the next question that actually moves your mastery.
The AI Examiner returns a mark, method credit and what to fix — drawn from the real IB mark scheme. Your weak topics rise to the top of the next session.
FourtyFive vs.
the way you revise now.
A textbook teaches. A past-paper PDF tests. A chatbot guesses. An IB question bank with examiner-aligned AI marking does all three — and remembers what you got wrong.

What is an IB question bank
— and why does it matter?
An IB question bank is a searchable library of practice questions written in the style of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme exams. The best ones are organised by subject, topic and paper, mapped to the current syllabus, and updated when the IBO publishes a revised guide. A bad one is a PDF dump of recycled questions with no answers.
FourtyFive sits firmly in the first camp. Our IB question bank covers six IB Diploma subjects today — Math AA, Math AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics at both SL and HL — and every question is tagged to a syllabus point, paper (1, 2 or 3), command term and difficulty band. Start a session and you can drill into a single sub-topic, or let the personalisation algorithm pick a mix that targets your weakest areas.
What makes a good IB question bank?
- Syllabus-mapped, not subject-mapped. Every question points at a specific syllabus statement so you can revise the actual learning objective being tested.
- Examiner-aligned marking. A mark is only useful if you understand why you earned it. Good question banks return method credit, not just totals.
- Answer-anything input. The real IB exam lets you handwrite — your practice should too. Typing-only banks teach a different muscle.
- Adaptive ordering. Going through questions in chapter order is the wrong way to revise. The next question should be chosen for you, based on your last few answers.
How FourtyFive compares to other IB resources
Textbooks are dense, but end-of-chapter exercises rarely match exam style. PDF compilations of past papers exist, but the IBO owns the copyright and sites that redistribute them sit in a legally grey area — and they don't mark your answers. Generic AI tutors will happily help, but they don't know the IB mark scheme and will invent marks that don't exist.
FourtyFive combines a syllabus-mapped IB question bank, AI Examiner marking aligned to real IB mark schemes, and a personalisation engine that learns from every answer you give. That's why students use it for the day-to-day practice work in the run-up to mocks and the May or November IB session.
Are FourtyFive questions real past papers?
No — the IBO owns the copyright on real past papers and we don't redistribute them. Every question on FourtyFive is original, written by IB subject experts to match the style, difficulty and command-term language of Papers 1, 2 and 3. That also means we can generate fresh similar questions on demand for Pro users, which a fixed past-paper bank can't.

What is an IB question bank?
An IB question bank is a searchable library of practice questions modelled on the International Baccalaureate Diploma exams — organised by subject, topic, paper and command term, mapped to the live syllabus. FourtyFive's IB question bank covers six IB Diploma subjects at SL and HL with syllabus-mapped questions, IB mark-scheme marking and personalised next-question recommendations.
Which IB subjects does FourtyFive's question bank cover?
Six IB Diploma subjects at both SL and HL: Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (Math AA), Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (Math AI), Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics. More subjects are on the way — you can see the shortlist in the "coming soon" strip on this page.
Are the questions real IB past papers?
No — the IBO owns the copyright on real past papers and we don't redistribute them. Every question on FourtyFive is original, written by IB subject experts to match the style, difficulty and command terms of the real IB exam, and tagged to the current syllabus. This also lets us generate fresh similar questions on demand, which a fixed past-paper bank can't.
Does the AI mark Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3 questions?
Yes. The AI Examiner marks questions across every paper in each subject we cover, including the long-response and data-response styles. For Math AA and Math AI that's Papers 1, 2 and 3 at HL and Papers 1 and 2 at SL; for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics it's the corresponding papers in each subject's IB specification.
How is FourtyFive different from Revision Village, RevisionDojo or Save My Exams?
Most IB question banks give you questions and a solution. FourtyFive closes the loop by marking your answer to the real IB mark scheme, building a topic-by-topic mastery profile from every attempt, and recommending the next best thing to revise. It also natively supports handwritten Apple Pencil answers — most competitors only accept typed input.
Can I use an iPad and Apple Pencil with the question bank?
Yes. FourtyFive is iPad-first and natively supports Apple Pencil handwriting for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics working. The AI Examiner marks handwritten answers to the same IB mark scheme standard as typed answers. If you don't have an iPad, the FourtyFive writing tablet plugs into any Mac, Windows or Chromebook laptop and gives you the same workflow.
Is FourtyFive's IB question bank free?
Yes — the Free plan covers personalised IB revision and 50 AI-marked checks per month from the question bank, with no card needed. Academic Weapon (the Pro plan) raises that to 150 checks per month and unlocks AI Tutor Chat plus on-demand generation of similar questions with mark schemes. Billing runs through Stripe, monthly or yearly (yearly saves about 17%).
Is the FourtyFive question bank aligned to the current IB syllabus?
Yes. Every question is tagged to the current IB Diploma Programme syllabus and reviewed when the IBO updates a course, so you don't end up practising retired material. When the syllabus changes, topics are remapped so your mastery scores keep their meaning.
Is FourtyFive endorsed by the IBO?
No. FourtyFive is an independent IB revision platform. IB® is a registered trademark of the International Baccalaureate Organization, and we are not affiliated with the IBO. We do not redistribute IBO copyrighted materials.
